Advanced Movement Analysis and Treatment Skills

What is it?
The emphasis of this course is on improving participant's clinical handling skills

Who is the course for?
The course is suitable for Bobath trained paediatric occupational therapists, 
physiotherapists and speech and language therapists.

Aim:
To improve handling skills when assessing and treating children with cerebral palsy.
.

Objectives:

By the end of the course participants should be able to:

 
.  Analyse and problem solve movement limitations

 
.  Show insight into main problems, primary patterns, secondary problems
     and compensatory strategies

 
.  Demonstrate the ability to adapt their handling to specific needs of the
    child

 
.  Demonstrate the ability to facilitate an active response from the child
    during functional activities and state why this is essential.


How will the course be taught?
The format will include some lectures with video analysis, practical sessions and discussions in small groups, daily treatment sessions and demonstrations.

 

The next course will be held from 6 - 10 July 2009 at the Bobath Children's Therapy Centre in Cardiff.
