Who is the course for?
This is a three day course for speech and language therapists on the Bobath approach to assessment and treatment of children (and babies) with cerebral palsy.
The course is designed specifically for speech and language therapists. However, the course will be of greater benefit to speech and language therapists who are working with a paediatric cerebral palsy client group.
Aim:
The course is designed to give participants an insight into the application of the Bobath concept to the speech and language therapist.
Objectives:
· To familiarise therapists with the basic concepts underpinning the Bobath approach to treatment.
· To demonstrate the interdisciplinary nature of assessment and treatment using the Bobath approach.
· To demonstrate and familiarise therapists with the application of the Bobath concept to the work of the speech and language therapist, particularly in the fields of dysphagia management and augmentative communication.
How will
the course be taught?
The course will be made up of clinical demonstrations,
practical sessions, discussions and lectures.
