Managing Cerebral Palsy in Adolescence

Who is the course for?
The course is designed for physiotherapists, occupational therapists and speech and language therapists involved in the treatment and management of older children/adolescence/young adults in the transition period from school to an adult life style.
Aim:
To explore specific issues that are associated with cerebral palsy in adolescence.
Objectives:
The course participants will have:
• Identified and discussed specific problems associated with cerebral palsy in adolescence.
• Identified which problems may contribute to future deterioration.
• Say how perceptual and social communication difficulties may impinge on the future and discuss ideas to improve participation in daily life.
• Discuss strategies to encourage the client to take responsibility for own treatment programme.
• Problem solving how to adapt handling and treatment to the older child and adolescence.
