Decision making regarding therapy input

Each child attending the Bobath Centre is unique. They will have different abilities and concerns and the therapy they receive will be designed to fit their specific needs.

Parents/carers will be asked to fill in a questionnaire prior to their child attending the Bobath Centre. The information that they give together with information received from the doctor referring the child and local team including therapists, will help us to allocate the appropriate therapist(s) to their child and the format of the therapy.

This may be a single consultation appointment to receive advice on one or two specific issues, a two week block of daily therapy or a period of more regular ongoing therapy, for example once or twice weekly appointments for 6 weeks. If during the course of the therapy block an additional area of concern is identified, it may be helpful to change the therapy input in order to best address the child’s needs.

The therapists will work together with the child and their parents/carers to achieve the goals they have set. Team work is an essential part of the Bobath Concept.
