JMW Solicitors raised a fantastic £1,500 for Bobath by taking on the challenge of climbing the Yorkshire Three Peaks in under 12 hours.
Their feat consisted of walking the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough on foot, with no travel in between. A mentally and physically strenuous exercise, many of the team commented on how tough they found it - especially the final peak, but they still managed to complete it in 11 hours and five minutes.
All funds raised from the event was split 50/50 between Bobath and The Disabilities Trust.
The 19-strong team included solicitors and support staff and staff from JMW’s digital agency I-Com also took on the challenge.
Hayley Wicker-Bradbury, fundraising manager at the Disabilities Trust, said: “We are delighted and proud of each one of the team. I know they struggled at times but somehow, they all did it with a smile on their face. They have raised a tremendous amount of money for the men and women with acquired brain injury who we support. We cannot thank them enough for their time and effort”.
Steven Brown, a senior associate in the specialist medical negligence team at JMW who initiated the challenge, commented: “Working in the medical negligence team at JMW I see day-in-day-out the difficulties patients with severe disabilities and brain injuries such as cerebral palsy face. The services and therapies provided by both the Disabilities Trust and Bobath give these patients an improved quality of life and the positive impact of this cascades out to their whole family. These specialist services are not available on the NHS so the Disabilities Trust and Bobath have literally been a lifeline for thousands of patients which is why we wanted to support the continued work they do.”
Kevin Gillespie, the Bobath Centre’s fundraising manager echoed Hayley’s sentiments, “The Yorkshire Three Peaks is a tough challenge that requires diligence, determination and team spirit. JMW Solicitors showed they have all three, but they also proved they have a heart by raising money for children who have had the worst start in life”.
Huge thanks to everyone taking part and to those who supported the team with donations.
